Buffalo Storm Inline Hockey

The team will face off against the Toronto Tigers at 12:00 PM tomorrow afternoon at the Cheektowaga Recreation for the opportunity to play for the 2008 GLi Championship, beginning at 3:00 PM.  
 
Captain Kevin Fischer led the way, scoring 3 goals while forward Rob Szymkowiak burried 2 of his own, including a shorthanded goal from defenseman Justin Banaszak.  Joe Bodkin capped off the scoring with an empty netter and Jim Durham added 2 assists.  Goaltender Derek Mohney captured the win in a solid performance between the pipes.

The Buffalo Storm 18 & under team are finding their identity as they came close to winning the Narch Final at the Pepsi Center this past weekend.  The young Storm team finished with a 2 wins, 2 losses to make the finals and lost 6-1 to the Oakville Coyotes in the Finals.  The game was a close contest until Oakville opened up the scoring in the second half.  I was able to attend the last few games and was quite happy with what I saw from our young players.  The Storms 18 & under team will travel to Oakville the weekend of June 21st & 22nd to participate in the Oakville Waterfront Tournament to end their inaugural season.
