The 18 & Under team will head into the Amherst Pepsi Center for NARCh next weekend.
Game 1
The Storm played a very strong game against the Burlington Wave(Army) and tied to a score of 6-6. The Storm lead most of the game but gave up the tying goal with about 4:00 minutes remaining. Sean Olejniczak was stopped on a breakaway with eleven seconds left and the game ended in a tie. Good performances by Pat Gillen, Sean Olejniczak & Justin Swan.
Game 2
Was against Burlington Wave(Web). The Storm played the game with only five players due to work committments. Having played a late game the night before and a short bench, the Storm took one on the chin. 12-4
Game 3
Versus the Hamilton Powerblades. The Storm came out very strong and controlled the play for more than 3/4 of the game. A big game by Calvin Waley helped the Storm jumped out to a 4-2 lead in a very slow and controlled game. Joe Coyne helped in our offensive attack. However, the second game of the day was starting to take a toll on the Storm and a late surge with about 6:00 minutes remaining in the game proved to be to much for the Storm to handle. 10-4
Game 4
The last game of the Tournament and third game of the day was against the Oakville Coyotes, one that the Storm did everything they could, but was out matched by the stron Coyote Team. The Coyotes went on to win the tournament and proved to be the best team there.
Highlights:
Although there were no wins in this tournament, there were many positives to come out of this weekend. We had a tie in which we were winning, a game that we were winning and could not hold on. The Storm came together as a team in a very physical game against Burlington Wave (Army) and were able to establish and work on their offensive patience. The fact that we are a very young team and a new start up program, I am very happy with the progress that I have seen over the last two tournaments.
The future looks bright for the Storms 18U program and will develop very talented players for the Jr. A team.
