The Kitchener/Waterloo Rage, the 2008 Jr. A Great Lakes Inline League Playoff Champions, played in the first Unofficial National Championship vs The Canadian National Team, the St. Vital Falcons in Brampton, Ontario this past weekend.
The Ontario Minor Roller Hockey Association, the New Governing body for Inline Hockey in Canada will be pushing member organizations to field Junior A Inline teams to compete in the Great Lakes Inline League. As Inline Hockey grows in Canada, more and more teams that are formed will be eventually be regionalized such as the Ontario Provincial Jr A Ice Hockey League in Canada.
The game between The Rage and Falcons was a best 2 out of 3 games, here are the results:
Game 1 - KW Rage 8 - St. Vital Falcons 5
Game 2 - KW Rage 11 - St. Vital Falcons 6
Game 3 - KW Rage 11 - St. Vital Falcons 12(OT) This was a friendly scrimmage game.
KW Rage win the series and by agreement gain an automatic invitation to next year's event.
Rob Way, coach of the KW Rage said, "The games were played at a very high skill level. The players on both teams were pumped up and very excited to be competing in a National Championship! We certainly have the start to a concept that should really help promote In-Hockey to the Junior Age kids".
